Carboliva, the green mark of the olive grove

We are an Andalusian biotechnology company that transforms olive biomass into certified biochar and renewable thermal energy. Through our proprietary pyrolysis technology, we convert a traditional byproduct into a driver for decarbonization, soil regeneration, and new sustainable materials for Europe.

About Carboliva

ABOUT CARBOLIVA

Carboliva was born within the olive pomace ecosystem itself, where traditionally the priority has been to extract oil and generate heat to dry the olive pomace by burning its own biomass.

After years of understanding this model from within, the Carboliva team began to view it with a different logic: the drying facilities and byproducts of the process ceased to be a necessary evil and became a lever for innovation.

Thus, Carboliva is committed to producing cleaner thermal energy and, at the same time, generating olive biochar with agronomic and climatic value in a historically very static sector.

From the earth for the earth: regeneration and circularity

Roots: Over 100 Years of Olive Groves

ROOTS

Over 100 Years of Olive Groves

1917 · Daniel Espuny

First mechanized olive oil mill in Seville.

We come from a family of olive oil producers and pomace processors with ties to the land for over a hundred years. A legacy that began in 1917, in Osuna, with Daniel Espuny's olive oil mill, the first mechanized mill in Seville.

This trajectory has allowed us to understand the olive grove cycle from within: oil production, the value of pomace, and the latent potential of olive biomass.

TRAJECTORY

Biomass Valorisation

2000 · Álvaro Espuny

Pioneer in cogeneration and energy valorization of biomass.

Álvaro Espuny promoted pioneering cogeneration plants to valorize olive grove byproducts and improve the sector's energy efficiency.

TODAY

The New Life of the Olive Grove

2017 · Carboliva is Born

Pyrolysis applied to olive byproducts to generate olive biochar and renewable thermal energy.

Carboliva opens a new era for the olive oil and olive grove sector: it creates a renewable carbon capable of regenerating the land – which has given us so much – and driving new materials and industries.
